What is the Seed Library?
The Seed Library is offered by the Whitestone Public Library and the Dunchurch Agricultural Society. Our goal is to make gardening and seed saving more accessible to residents of Whitestone. Members of the library can request up to five packets of seeds per household, or more if they donate seeds back to the library. Take your seeds home, grow them, and when it comes time to harvest, save the new seeds. Return your newly saved seeds to the library to keep the cycle going.
Add to the Seed Library
The Seed Library accepts any seed donations, commercial or home-grown. Seed donations must be under four years old.
Please ensure that the following information is included with your donation:
- Type of seed
- Year harvested
- Location harvested (postal code)
Contact the library for more information or if you would like to arrange a donation.
How to Get Involved
- Check out free seeds for your garden.
- Donate seeds to our collection.
- Participate in our workshops and events.
Note: It is best to borrow one variety of seed per species from the library to avoid accidental hybrids. Non-hybrid seeds are best to save seeds from.
